- EssexHeritage.org
- I am the part-time Webmaster for the Essex National Heritage Commission's website, www.essexheritage.org. I design all the pages, create Flash movies for the home page and several interior pages, write the standards-compliant html and css code, create graphics in Photoshop and Illustrator and have developed several hosted weblogs using WordPress. I've trained support staff to maintain interior pages using Dreamweaver and taught guest weblog editors posting content.
- UsingEssexHistory.org
- Using Essex History teaches secondary school history teachers in Essex County how to use the primary resources available locally to teach American History. I designed and developed this websiteto provide information about coming seminars, a collection of primary resources for teacher use and a set of lesson plans developed by teachers themselves. I designed the logo which is used on all print communications as well as the website. I also develop podcasts of the monthly seminars. The site is maintained by a staff person I trained to use Dreamweaver.
- Organic Soil Solutions
- Organic Soil Solution is a family-owned organic lawn care company. I designed and coded this website so that the owner can maintain it himself using Netscape Communicator. Since it was launched three years ago, this site has replaced most of his print advertising material.
- Topsfield Historical Society
- I redesigned this site by revising the WordPress weblogging software into a simple Content Management System. Using images and text from the old site, I reworked the navigation structure and developed the photo montage at the top in Photoshop. I maintain the site myself on a pro bono basis to help the Society develop processes that will allow a volunteer to maintain it in the future.
- BordertoBoston.org
- Hosted by the ENHC, Border to Boston is based on the open source WordPress weblogging software which I adapted to operate as a simple Content Management System. It's content is maintained by a member of the Border to Boston group who can add text and images via the web without needing any html knowledge. I also designed the animated header using Flash.
- First Period Architecture Weblog
- Essex County Massachusetts contains one of the largest assortment of houses built during the first period of Northern European settlement in the North American continent. This weblog is a community discussion space for all those who are knowledgable and interested in this First Period Architecture. I designed the graphics and developed the weblog using WordPress software. I trained the local historian who maintains the content.
- Topsfield Library
- Completely redesigned and recoded, the site is still maintainable by the Director using Netscape Composer. The site features an online calendar that is updatable via the web and produces an automatic "This Week's Events" section on the home page.
- Topsfield Massachusetts
Official Town Website
- Working with a committee of non-technical volunteers, I provded full website services including the information architecture, design, coding, domain name registration and hosting service purchase. Committee members wrote the content. I interviewed town employees and developed website personas. I trained both volunteers and town staff to use Macromedia Contribute to maintain the site. An online calendar program was purchased, tailored, installed and volunteers trained on adding updates.
