Portfolio
  • Cuvilly.org
  • Cuvilly Arts and Earth Center is a non-profit education center in Ipswich Massachusetts that operates a pre-school/kindergarten, community programs and an alternative energy site. This site started a new team approach for Pickering Web Design with Barb Bodengraven, a local PR and web writer, and Andrew Keys, a local web and graphic designer. Together we created a completely new website for Cuvilly - content, graphics, user navigation, coding. A new simple content management system was implemented so that all pages can be updated online with no html knowledge required.
  • BWHT.org
  • The Boston Women's Heritage Trail is a volunteer driven organization that promotes greater awareness of the places and contributions of women to Boston's history. In 2009, I redesigned and recoded this site, using WordPress, so that it could be maintained by a knowledgable volunteer.
  • Salem.org
  • Destination Salem is the official tourism promotion agency for Salem Massachusetts. In 2008, working with Destination Salem's marketing agency, I redesigned and recoded this site, developing a database of participating Salem businesses. I trained a staff person on updating the database and updating non-database pages using Adobe's Contribute. Destination Salem's blog and Twitter account are run into the website home page.
  • EssexHeritage.org
  • From Fall 2004 until Spring 2008, I was the part-time Webmaster for the Essex National Heritage Commission's website. I designed all the pages, created Flash movies for the home page and several interior pages, wrote the standards-compliant html and css code, created graphics in Photoshop and Illustrator and developed several hosted weblogs using WordPress. I trained support staff to maintain interior pages using Dreamweaver and taught guest weblog editors how to post content. Although this site is now maintained by a new Webmaster, the user navigation, page layouts and "look and feel" have been retained.
  • UsingEssexHistory.org
  • Using Essex History teaches secondary school history teachers in Essex County how to use the primary resources available locally to teach American History. I designed and developed this website to provide information about coming seminars, a collection of primary resources for teacher use and a set of lesson plans developed by teachers themselves. I designed the logo which is used on all print communications as well as the website. I also develop podcasts of the monthly seminars. I trained a staff person to maintain the site using Dreamweaver.
  • Topsfield Historical Society
  • I redesigned and recoded this site to enable volunteers to maintain it using Adobe's Contribute. Using images and text from the old site, I reworked the navigation structure and developed the photo montage at the top in Photoshop.
  • Topsfield Massachusetts
    Official Town Website
  • Working with non-technical volunteers, I provided full website services including the information architecture, design, coding, domain name registration and hosting service purchase. I trained both volunteers and town staff on using Macromedia Contribute to maintain the site pages. I installed an online calendar program and trained staff and volunteers to add events. I recently ported the site over to a new webhosting service, retrained staff on using Contribute and installed a simple content management system for home page updates.
